Tinubu’s Govt Should Review Minimum Wage- Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige says the incoming administration of the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu should start discussions on a review of the minimum wage currently obtainable in Nigeria immediately after its inauguration in May.

The minister, who was a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Wednesday, said the next government should come up with a new minimum wage higher than the current N30,000 by May 2024.

He also said the outgoing administration of President Muhammadu Buhari approved pay raise for “hardcore civil servants”, effective January 1, 2023, adding that there is a provision for it in the 2023 budget.

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue, says he has accepted his defeat at the February 25 national assembly poll.

Titus Zam, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, had defeated the governor to clinch the Benue north-west senatorial seat.

Ortom said he would study the results and respond appropriately.

Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, says the rapidly-growing sector is being threatened by cyberattacks.

Pantami spoke at the opening of a two-day cybersecurity stakeholders’ capacity-building workshop organised by the ministry in partnership with the World Bank in Abuja on Tuesday.

The minister said in the ever-evolving world of technology, cyber threats have become constant problems for businesses and organisations worldwide.

PDP Wins Majority Of Seats In Bauchi Assembly

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has in in addition to winning the governorship election in the state, also clinched majority of the seats in the Bauchi House of Assembly.

The PDP, according to details of the results of the March 18 governorship election and state houses of Assembly released on Tuesday won 22 out of the 31 Bauchi State House of Assembly seats.

The All Progressives Congress, APC won eight of the seats, Aliyu Shaba, the statement released by Deputy Director Voter Education, of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bauchi, indicated.
