Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo confirmed he was at one time against the ambition of Professor Chukwuma Soludo of becoming the Governor of Anambra State.

Obasanjo spoke in Awka, Anambra State capital, at an event to mark the one-year anniversary of Soludo as the governor of the state on Saturday.

The Nigerian leader said he had reservations when his former Chief Economic Adviser approached him that he was gunning for the governorship position in the state.

The Office of the President-elect has warned that its silence should not be taken for cowardice over series of plan to truncate the inauguration of the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

A statement issued by the Director, Public Affairs of the President-elect, Festus Keyamo said they have watched with great concern the condemnable activities of some persons and groups who are desirous of truncating the nation’s democracy.

He said for reasons best known to them, these persons had remained embittered that Tinubu was declared winner of the 2023 General Elections.

Heads roll in Adamawa APC over suspension of SGF Boss Mustapha

The APC in Adamawa has suspended indefinitely, the party executives of Gwadabawa wards, Yola-North LGA over alleged unconstitutional suspension of Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Dr Raymond Chidama, State Secretary of the party, disclosed this at a news conference on Saturday in Yola.

He said that the State Working Committee (SWC), under the leadership of Chief Samaila Tadawus, received the resolution of Yola-North Executive Committee on unconstitutional conduct of the suspended executive members for announcing to media they suspended SGF from the party.

I can’t endorse Feb 25 illegitimate mandate – Atiku

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to continue to challenge the process which he said conferred an illegitimate mandate on the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu.

Atiku said this in a statement he signed in Abuja, on Saturday.

According to the statement, the clarification became necessary in the light of a fake press release written in his name stating that he conferred legitimacy on the rigged election which Tinubu allegedly won.

Atiku said, “I have been notified of a fake press release attributed to me and purportedly giving legitimacy to the widely rigged presidential election of February 25.
