Former Rivers State governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, declared 27 persons wanted in the state. While speaking during an interview on Arise TV, Amaechi alleged that Wike is working with security agencies, adding that they are carrying out his orders of arresting members of the opposition parties.

Recall that barely 3 days ago, several reports were stating that Governor Wike declared some persons who are in the opposition parties wanted. He reportedly declared them wanted in his statewide broadcast.

While reacting to this, Amaechi said that Wike has no legal power to declare anyone wanted in the state. He made it clear that the governor isn’t the Inspector General of Police (IGP) or the Commissioner of Police (CP).

“The governor declared 27 persons wanted. I was once a governor. He has no power whether constitutional or legal to declare anybody wanted. He is not the IGP, he is not the Commissioner of Police but the Police goes about implementing the orders just to distract us from the election.”
