Lagos Commissioner of Police Denies Violence Claims

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, has denied reports of widespread violence and voter suppression in the governorship and House of Assembly elections held on Saturday, March 18. The police chief disclosed this on Saturday, in an interview with Channels TV
He affirmed attacks on the electorate and electoral officers recorded at some polling units in the state but disputed the attacks were widespread.
He noted that the police responded swiftly to most of the attacks as expected.
The police chief, while responding to a video of voters said to be overpowering a young man alleged to have snatched a ballot box disclosed it as illegal.
He said the man was rescued by the police and other security agencies, adding that the suspected electoral offender was receiving medical attention.

APC Yet To Zone NASS Leadership – Adamu

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Saturday, described as fake news reports that the party had adopted a zoning arrangement for the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.
Adamu stated this while addressing journalists after voting at his Keffi, Nasarawa State, country home during the governorship and House of Assembly elections.
He was reacting to reports that Senator Barau Jibrin was being favoured to emerge as the Senate President because the APC had allegedly zoned the position to the North-West.
The report claimed that the zoning decision was reached on Friday night by the leadership of the APC after consulting with the president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Oyo Speaker Wins Ibarapa East State Constituency Election

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, has been re-elected to represent Ibarapa East State Constituency in the Assembly.
The Returning Officer, Prof. John Oladeji, who announced the result of the election on Sunday in Ibadan, said Ogundoyin of the PDP scored 10,039 votes to defeat 12 other candidates.
He said that the APC candidate, Aderounmu Adeolu, got 7,111 votes while the Accord Party candidate, Oladeni Tunde scored 2,724 votes.
In his reaction, the Speaker expressed appreciation to people in the constituency for re-electing him.
The Speaker added that voters have again demonstrated their love for him, Gov. Seyi Makinde, and the Peoples Democratic Party through their massive votes.
House of Assembly election: Osun PDP clears 25 seats, one declared inconclusive

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State is set for another total victory as it has clinched 25 out of the 26 House of Assembly seats.
It was reported that the only exception is that of Boripe/Boluwaduro State Constituency that has been declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In the results so far announced, the PDP has won in Ifelodun Constituency where Tajudeen Akinlolu Adeyemi of the PDP polled 16,184 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mulikat Abiola Bello of the APC who scored 7, 460 votes.
Prince Kashope Abolarin of the PDP polled 5416 votes to defeat his rival from the APC who scored 2939 votes in Ifedayo State Constituency.
In Ife Central State Constituency, Abiola Jeremiah Awoyeye of the PDP polled 11691 votes as against his rival in the APC who came out with 8997.
