With Nigerians headed to the polls for the governorship and state House of Assembly elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says no fewer than 65 persons have been arrested for alleged voter inducement.

The EFCC said that the suspects were nabbed across the 28 states where governorship elections were held.

In a statement on Saturday, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said 20 of the suspects were arrested by its operatives from the Ilorin Zonal Command, while 13 were nabbed at the Kaduna Zonal Command.Today's Headlines: EFCC Arrests 65 Persons For Voter Inducement, Amaechi Alleges Voter Intimidation In Rivers

Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation, has alleged intimidation of voters and politicians at the ongoing governorship and house of assembly elections in Rivers state.

Amaechi spoke with journalists after casting his vote in polling unit 14, ward 8, Ubima community, Ikwerre LGA of Rivers.

The former Rivers governor accused Usman Baba, the inspector-general of police (IGP), of refusing to address the arrest and intimidation of members of opposition parties.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has rated the conduct of the Governorship and State Assembly elections in Rivers State as peaceful.

Wike also said there is an improvement in the conduct of today’s election compared to the Presidential and National Assembly polls, three weeks ago Unlike in the Presidential election where the governor experienced a delay in the accreditation process, today’s screening was easy and fast.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, has won the two polling units in Benue State Government House in Makurdi.

Alia, the APC candidate polled 130 votes to defeat PDP’s candidate, Engr. Titus Uba, who scored 43 votes at the Arts theatre polling unit 011.
