According to a report by The Punch Newspapers this morning, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret. ), said on Saturday that the All Progressives Congress would emerge victorious in the governorship and state assembly elections nationwide.

President Buhari said he was not surprised by the results of the presidential election, which saw Bola Tinubu emerge as the president-elect. Buhari also spoke on how he was impressed with the reduction of vote-buying during the elections, stating that the Naira scarcity was a major reason why politicians could not buy votes in the gubernatorial elections nationwide.

The governorship and state houses of assembly elections were held across the country yesterday, March 18, 2023. The governorship elections took place in 28 states across the nation, with just a few incumbent governors seeking re-election while most of the states will be electing new chief executive officers.
