CHE 2-2 EVE: What Graham Potter said after Everton came from behind to steal a point against Chelsea
Graham Potter expressed his dissatisfaction after Chelsea dropped three points against Everton.
At Stamford Bridge, the Toffees came from behind twice in the second half to clinch a 2-2 draw. Chelsea took the lead twice thanks to goals from Joao Felix and Kai Havertz, but Everton fought back valiantly.
Ellis Simms’ 89th-minute goal earned a crucial point for Sean Dyche’s team, moving them two points clear of the Premier League relegation zone after Abdoulaye Docuoure’s initial response for the visitors.
The stalemate put an end to the Blues three match unbeaten run & Potter felt that his team didn’t defend well.
“We’re very disappointed that we lost two points at home, You could see the team’s objective was to win because we wanted to. There were many good aspects of the performance, but eventually our defense was not strong enough, and after giving up two goals, it was difficult to win the match. It is what we find disappointing.
“Everton deserves praise; they are good at what they do. They ask you questions while being physically active and utilizing set pieces.
As much as you could at his level, we managed the majority of the really well. However, given that it came from a set-piece and that we discussed it before the game, the first goal is ultimately very disappointing.
