Rhodes-Vivour Accuses APC Of Voter Suppression In Lagos

The governorship candidate for Labour Party in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has alleged that there is voter suppression in the state.

Rhodes-Vivour said this on Saturday after voting at his polling unit.

He said, “There is voter suppression. Indigenous Lagosians are welcoming and exposing but the APC (All Progressives Congress) takes its strength from division and violence. By God’s grace, the will of the people will prevail and this government that gets its validation from intimidation will be a thing of the past.”

Incumbent Governor Sanwo-Olu is the candidate of the APC in the election.

He lamented that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were not cooperating in areas that are Labour Party strongholds.

I am not congratulating someone that got his mandate from intimidation and suppression, if it happens, I will go to court.

“INEC must transmit votes electronically and we are getting reports where the BVAS has already been preloaded. Whatever intimidation they do, the will of the people will prevail. This is a battle for the people of Lagos,” he said.

Zulum Votes, Commends INEC

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has voted in the ongoing Governorship and state Houses of assembly elections at Unit 001 Ajari Ward, in Mafa Local Government Area in Borno.

The governor who arrived at the polling unit exactly 10:37 a.m with his entourage was accredited and voted at 10:40 am.

I am also optimistic that this will be the case in other parts of the state,“he said.

He commended the people for the large turnout and the manner they conducted themselves to exercise their civic duty.

Three Die In Masari’s Convoy

At least three persons have died in a road accident involving the convoy of Katsina Governor Aminu Bello Masari.

They were on their way to Karfur for Saturday’s Governorship/ Assembly elections.

The Nation gathered the accident occurred on Friday night near a village called Jimkamshi while the Governor and his entourage were heading to Kafur.

Among those dead killed were police officers in the convoy identified as Kabir Adamu and Nura Safiyanu and Ahmady Ali.

A few others sustained various injuries and are receiving treatment in a hospital.

Sanwo-Olu Votes, Condemns Electoral Violence

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday cast his vote in the governorship and state assembly elections, saying that the electoral process is not supposed to be violent.

Sanwo-Olu voted at Eiyekole, 006 polling unit, St. Stephens Nursery and Primary School, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island around 10:30am.

The governor also praised the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for arriving early to the polling unit as well as the turnout of voters.

He said, “My wife and I are happy with the turnout. We are happy with the turnout at this polling unit. I am told that they came right on time and voting is on. I think it is time for us to see and understand that this process is not meant to be a process of violence.

El-Rufai, Kaduna Speaker Biker Over 2023 Election

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon Ibrahim Yusuf Zailani were allegedly engrossed in heated argument over the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election in Kaduna state.

Sources close to the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House Kaduna confided in journalists that the two senior citizens of the State parted on an uncomfortable note the previous night, after a party caucus meeting in

the state capital.

That was the first time we heard the Speaker to have openly quarrelled with the Governor.He and other party faithful were not happy with the sudden political development in the state in which the ruling APC was not winning votes as was the case in 2019,” a source said.
