Imo govt knocks PDP over vote-buying claim
The Imo State government has debunked an allegation of vote buying by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
PDP had earlier alleged the state government of making cash transfers to the electorate to get their support in the February 25 election.

A press statement made available to Journalists in Owerri, the state capital by Oguwike Nwachuku, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma, quoted the state Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, on Saturday, as saying, “The Imo State chapter of PDP which made the allegation is only displaying the gasps of a drowning man desperate to drag everyone to his doom.
The statement titled, “You are displaying gasps of a drowning man, Imo State govt tells PDP” condemned the action of the party, adding that PDP was fragmented beyond redemption and therefore not ready to contest the election.

CBN, EFCC warn Gombe banks against corruption
In furtherance of the effective implementation of naira redesign policy, the Gombe State branch of Central Bank of Nigeria said it had received and accordingly distributed additional supply of the new naira notes to banks, warning against corrupt practices in the state.
Disclosing this shortly in a press briefing, leader of the CBN Director of Development Finance, Philip Yila, who was represented by Deputy Director Aliyu Ashiru, said the meeting which had in attendance all heads of commercial banks discussed the distribution and utilisation strategy.

According to him, the meeting provided an opportunity for both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and CBN officials to warn commercial banks against unwholesome practice.
Yila said, “The meeting was held to smoothen rough edges in the currency redesign policy. Overtime, we have had meetings with them where we drew up strategies as to how to drive the project”.
Building Collapse: FCT Minister Orders Arrest Of Housing Authority Officials, Developers
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Muhammad Bello, has directed security agencies to arrest the officials of Federal Housing Authority, FHA, and the developer over the collapse of the suspended two – storey building in Abuja.
The Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), Umar Shuaibu, in a news briefing on Saturday said that the minister directed the security agencies to arrest the FHA officer saddled with the responsibility of supervising the project.

The coordinator also said that the minister asked the security personnel to arrest the FHA officer in charge of granting the development permit and the engineer supervising the development for alleged manslaughter.
It had been reported that the building, under construction, collapsed at about 11am on Thursday, at 6th Avenue in Gwarimpa Estate, trapped 24 persons, three were confirmed dead while 21 persons had been rescued alive.
Tafawa Balewa Spent $82million On Kainji Dam But Nigerian Debt Presently Can Build 160 Dams – Peter Obi
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has lamented the debt profile of Nigeria without commensurate development.
Obi stated this in a tweet posted on his Twitter handle, noting that the debts of Nigeria could build 160 Kainji Dams.

As of September 2022, Nigeria’s current debt profile stood at N44. 06 trillion.
Obi wrote in tweet, “Sir Tafawa Balewa borrowed $82m to build Kainji dam; 62 years later we still benefit from Kainji dam.
“Today, we owe a debt that that could build 160 Kainji dams. But where are the dams? We have not invested in regenerative projects.
