According to World Soccer Talk, the USMNT is looking to sign former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as their new coach. The Portuguese player currently leads the Serie A team, AS Roma. Roma are currently fourth in Serie A with 37 points from 19 matches. Mourinho has never supported a national team in his career before. He has coached top European clubs such as FC Porto, Chelsea (two terms), Real Madrid, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Tottenham Hotspur throughout his career. Mourinho has won championships in Portugal, England, Spain, and Italy. He is also a two-time UEFA Champions League winner, once with Porto and once with Inter Milan.

Known for his highly tactical approach, Jose Mourinho is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in European football. He is also closely linked with coaching jobs in his native Portugal and five-time world champion Brazil. Meanwhile, Brazil turned its attention to Carlo Ancelotti and Zinedine Zidane when the pursuit of Mourinho had no real direction. Gregg Berhalter is unlikely to return as USMNT coach, and it looks like he will make it to the FIFA Round of 16 in 2022. The World Cup is his final act.
