Bauchi Gov. Bala Mohammed Tests Positive For Coronavirus, As Cases Increase To 44


Governor of has been infected with the , while the cases have now increased to 44 in Nigeria.

, the media aide to the Governor, confirmed his principal tested positive for in a statement on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

“At this point, it should be noted that the governor is in self-isolation as his doctors and officials from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have taken full charge of his quarantine,” the statement read.

The governor is a known contact of Mohammed Abubakar, son of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, who recently tested positive. The two met inside an Abuja-bound airplane in Lagos and shook hands.

According to the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the total cases of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19 is now 44.

“Two new cases of #COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria: 1 in FCT (Abuja) and 1 in Bauchi,” the NCDC tweeted.

“The cases have travel history to Germany and the UK.

“As at 06:25 pm on 24th March, there are 44 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. 2 have been discharged with 1 death.”
