Alleged Fraudster, Mompha, Demands N5m From EFCC For Unlawful Detention
He filed the fundamental rights enforcement suit alleging unlawful detention and a violation of his rights.
Recall, the news of how the social media celebrity and big money spender, caused quite a stir on social media after he was arrested by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on allegations bordering on internet fraud was reported.
In his suit filed before the Lagos state High Court Igbosere by his counsel, Gboyega Oyewole SAN, Mompha accused the EFCC of detaining him beyond the constitutionally-allowed period without being charged to court.
He stated that the remand order the EFCC obtained to keep him in their custody since his arrest has expired and the agency has refused to charge him to court. He has asked the court to award N5m against the EFCC. The court is yet to fix any date to hear the case.
