Wendy Williams’ announced to the world that she’s now involved with a middle-aged doctor when she returned to her show on Monday after five-week break.
In less than 24-hours, it was reported that she’s dating a man named Dr. Darrin Porcher. Within that same 24 hours, Dr. Porcher spoke to two publications — Page Six and DailyMailTV and flat-out denied that he’s dating Wendy. He made it clear that he’s only worked security for the talk show host and that he’s in a happy relationship of his own.
According to new reports, Wendy Williams’ employees believe she made up the alleged doctor dating claims in attempt to save her job and image.
“Her team didn’t know she was going to make the announcement,” the insider told Radar. “They believe she did this to make sure her bosses knew she was no longer with the young kid.”
The insider claimed to Radar that Wendy Williams Show executives felt “very uncomfortable” after photographs surfaced of the talk show host “running around New York” with Tomblin last month. On July 8, Williams joked that she was over dating younger men.
“27-year-old boys, quite frankly, find me attractive,” she said. “I get it, but when it comes time for the comfort of a man I need someone in his 50s, too, and he’s gotta work.”
The host’s staff have even gossiped about her faking the relationship.
“Ratings have been awful recently. She’s now focused on saving the show and will do whatever she has to to keep it on the air,” the source said.
As Radar reported, Williams, 54, filed for divorce from her husband of nearly two decades, Kevin Hunter, 46, in April. The TV personality cited “irreconcilable differences” and then barred him from entering her studio.
On the July 8 episode, Williams claimed that the new man in her life has “been married” and has kids.
